One of our favorite things about going to Disney World is checking our bags in Omaha and finding them in our hotel rooms on arrival. This takes some planning when it comes to having everything you need on your first night but other than that it’s seamless. We had hoped for the same great service with our cruise but there are reasons why we don’t use Disney transportation to get to our cruise port.
Transportation to Cruise Port
- It costs $39 per person unless you are traveling solo it doesn’t make any sense.
- We typically don’t stay at Disney for the night before the cruise. Since we are basically flying in and waiting for our cruise to start the next day, there isn’t a real reason to stay at a Disney hotel.
- Disney Hotels are not on the way from Orlando International Airport to Port Canaveral. So you are spending a little more time in the car and potentially paying for it.
- Uber can be a very efficient and cost-effective way to get to Port Canaveral. We paid $60 plus

If we would have had a smaller group, I would have considered using Disney transportation to go back to the airport. The Uber price doubled on the way home but it was still cheaper, since there are 6 of us.
Transportation to Disney World
Absolutely take the Magical Express. It’s comfortable and the kids watch Disney cartoons and Disney trivia (the best) en route. Your luggage arrives in your room (my husband’s favorite part) and best of all it’s free (my favorite part.) The most important thing to remember is to make sure you book your flight to Orlando International Airport (MCO). If you go through Allegiant and end up at the Stanford Airport (SFB) you can not use Disney’s Magical Express.
